  A slightly elevated panoramic view of a real estate development in East Los Angeles, at the corner of Atlantic and Beverly. The area in the foreground is a parking lot, with only two automobiles in it. A main is painting a wall adjacent to the parking lot, creating an advertisement extolling the virtues of investing in real estate. Beyond this lot and on the right are tracts of land with signs announcing "Pre-Opening Sales". Writing in white over a tree at the bottom of the image reads "W. Pico Blvd. ; L.A. ; Mar. 1-1934."

  A slightly elevated panoramic view of the oil field of Signal Hill, facing north and east. There are hundreds of oil rigs, or derricks, across the landscape. Among the oil rigs there are streets of houses, as well as numerous vacant lots. There are railroad tracks on the far left side of the image.
