  A panoramic view of an event taking place somewhere along the southern California coast. A few hundred automobiles are parked in a lot at the foot of a hill, and people are walking or standing on a path that leads towards the ocean. There are a few tents and shacks set up along the path.

  A panoramic view of one of the gymnasiums on the campus of the University of California, Los Angeles. The large building sits at the bottom of a hill. To the left there is an expansive parking lot which is crowded with cars. To the left of the parking lot there are practice fields for football and baseball.   Atlantic and Beverly, facing east and south, East Los Angeles. January 29, 1946

  Visual Materials

  A slightly elevated panoramic view of the intersection of Atlantic and Beverly in East Los Angeles, facing east and south. Both Atlantic Boulevard, which runs the length of the image, and Beverly Boulevard, which is just right of center and goes out into the distance, are labeled by hand in white. There are two service stations at the corner, the one in the center is a Richfield station, and the one on the right is a 76 station. There are subdivisions beyond the stations, with houses still under construction in the subdivision on the left. A note written in white on the intersection in the bottom right corner reads "Made Jan 29, 1946 ; Pettit's Studio ; 1416 W. Pico L.A. ; Phone RI 8534".

  Cabrillo Beach with view of the bath house, San Pedro, Los Angeles. April 8, 1934

  Visual Materials

  A panoramic view of Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, Los Angeles. The beach is divided into two curved strands, one on each side of the breakwater. In between the two stretches of sand is a picnic area and the Cabrillo Beach Bath House. A parking lot is on the far side of the picnic area and is filled with parked cars. The beach crowd is fairly thin, with few people in the water. There are numerous ships of various sizes in the distance (inside the breakwater). Writing in white at the bottom reads "4-8-'34".
