Rose Garden | Commercial Filming and Photography: Locations

Three acres of colorful flowers, the Rose Garden also features a small fountain, decorative marble benches, a sundial, and an 18th-century French tempietto (“The Temple of Love”).

Climbing roses scale white wooden trellises and traditional iron hoops. The “faux bois” arbor is a special feature–cement trellises carefully fashioned to look like living trees.

A wide, gently sloping lawn to the east leads to the Huntington Art Gallery; the southwest part of the garden is shaded by the trailing branches of large cypresses.

Roses bloom in this garden from about mid-April through early January, when pruning begins.

Several productions have been inspired to use the area as the White House Rose Garden, taking advantage of the classical architectural style of the Rose Garden Tea Room. This building, now an active restaurant, was formerly Henry Huntington’s private office and recreation room, containing a billiard table and bowling lanes.
