THIS LAND IS...
Various locations around The Huntington
Inspired by conversations that occur when people with diverse viewpoints gather around a communal table, this series invites participants to engage with questions inspired by the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. How can the ideals of the founding documents be adapted to the complexities of present-day American society? How have individuals and communities shown resilience and regeneration in the face of disruption? What stories do we honor from the past, and what lessons do we harness for shaping the future?
Each program is shaped in collaboration with a local community partner and will feature a catalyst—such as a performance, panel, or activity—before participants break bread and gather with mutual respect and real talk. Themes for the dinners are related to Huntington exhibitions and collections.
Co-presented by The Huntington and the Smithsonian Folklife Festival on the occasion of America at 250.
