    One drawing book entitled Krüsi's Drawing: Synthetic Series, New series, No. 2, published by D. Appleton & Co., New York, copyright 1878. This book consists of 16 pages of geometric designs, which emphasize the practice of lines and shapes. Suggestions to Teachers are printed on the inside of the front cover, and specifics of line drawing are outlined on the inside of the back cover. On each page are the illustrations and space intended for copying. The front cover is decoratively bordered; the back cover is a publisher's advertisement for Model Copy-Books in six numbers (penmanship studies), offered by D. Appleton & Co. Laid inside the book are three sheets of paper, two of which are blank. The third contains several original illustrations. A blue ownership stamp of I.A. Dexter is on the front cover.

    One art instruction book entitled Krüsi's Drawing: Perspective Series, No. 12, published by D. Appleton & Co., New York, copyright 1874 and 1879. This book contains 12 black and white images on 24 pages (one image per leaf). Space is provided next to each image for copying. These images include flowers, plants, vases and a landscape scene. The front cover is decoratively bordered and illustrated. The back cover is a publisher's advertisement for Krusi's Inventive Drawing, "Adopted in nearly Five Hundred Cities and Town within Six Months after its Publication." None of the images have been copied.

    Four drawing books entitled Barnes' Popular Drawing Series, published by A.S. Barnes and Company, New York and Chicago, copyright 1881; numbered 5, 5, 6 and 8. There are 2 copies of Set No. 5; one (in Env. 2) is a set of double-sided looseleaf plates in an envelope; Book No. 5 (Env. 3) is a bound duplicate of Envelope 2 (Box 1), except the plates in the bound copy are single-sided. Book No. 5 contains plates no. 33-40; Book No. 6 contains plates no. 41-48; Book No. 8 contains plates no. 57-64. Each bound book is bound in a light green, decorated and illustrated paper cover, and the inside of each back cover contains additional designs, labeled as Place C in Books 5 and 6, and labeled as Plate D in Book 8. The back cover of each book is titled "Barnes' Popular Drawing" and contains descriptions of several drawing courses available through the company. The outer envelope of the unbound No. 5 has "5-" (price) written in ms., in pencil, on the lower right-hand corner.

    Two drawing books entitled Krone's Paragon Series of Drawing Books, Nos. 2 and 9, revised, published by Krone Bros., New York, copyright 1905. Book no. 2 is 16 pages in length, and is a series of line exercises, progressing from simple, single lines to combinations of lines to construct images such as flowers, patterns and shapes. The front cover of both books are bordered and illustrated, including a life-size pencil diagonally positioned across the cover. The back cover of each contains general directions for drawing, materials needed, and a listing of the titles in the series. The inside of the front and back covers of Book No. 2 provides definitions of terms, with illustrations of those terms. All of the exercises have been filled in by a previous owner. Book No. 9 consists of 8 leaves, each with an image on the upper half of the page and space below for copying. These images include a rabbit, a pig, a horse and a deer. Each of the 8 leaves is protected by a tissue guardsheet. The inside of the front and back covers contain the same definitions, explanations and illustrations as those found in Book No. 2. The cover of Book No. 9 is vertically oriented, in that the cover is lifted from bottom to top, but the interior pages are turned as usual, opening to the left. "Annette Paquin" is written in ms. along the outside of the border in the lower right-hand corner of the front cover of Book No. 9. All of the illustrations have been copied in pencil by a previous owner.

    One set of drawing cards, in a blue and white patterned-paper envelope entitled Coe’s New Drawing Cards for Schools, No. 5, printed by D. Appleton & Co., New York, ca. 1860-1880. The envelope label also includes the note "Instructions for the Series will be found with No. 1" and the statement "(Copyright Secured.)". The 17 drawing cards depict landscapes, architecture and animals. Each of the cards have a "No. 6" in the upper left hand corner, and sometimes a number in the upper right hand corner.

    Three drawing books entitled Weigall's Drawing Book of Animals, Nos. 2, 5 and 6, published by George Rowney and Company, London, circa 1875?. Each book is comprised of four lithograph plates; the plates in book No. 2 are numbered 5-8; those in book No. 5 are numbered 17-20, and those in book No. 6 are numbered 21-24. Printed below the title on the front cover of each is: "In Twelve numbers, price sixpence each." The inside of the front cover is an advertisement for "George Rowney & Co.'s Colour Boxes"; the inside of the back cover is a publisher's advertisement for art books. The advertisement on the back cover is for "Water Colour Lesson Drawings." Images in No. 2 include a bear and a bull; in No. 5 a kangaroo and a goat; in No. 6 a lion and a deer. A sheet of paper containing original artwork is laid in to each of the three books. "Ida Lill Alice" is written in ms. at the top of the front cover of book No. 2."E.O./B.K." is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of each of the three books.
