Two envelopes of "proof sheets" of photographed examples of student art work

Two envelopes of art reproductions ("proof sheets") of photographed examples of student art work. The "proof sheets" were mailed from James Parton Haney to Mabel Spofford; the brown paper mailing envelopes accompany each set of sheets. Env. 7 contains 18 "proof sheets"; these are photographic sheets, each containing reproduced art examples by art students. Included are images of signs, magazine covers, posters, advertisements, book covers, textiles and other items. Many of the individual art examples are signed by their creators, and most are dated 1919 or 1920. The "proof sheets" are in black and white. Env. 8 contains 12 "proof sheets" of art examples by art students. Each sheet contains several reproduced examples of work. Included are images of decorative and advertising posters for a variety of events, plays, and lectures. Most of the items are signed by their creators, and are dated 1921. The first 6 drawings (Env. 45-50) are charcoal drawings of geometric solids; the next 3 (Env. 51-53) are also charcoal drawings, the first two are of a statue face, the third of a bowl; the next 2 (Env. 55-56) are colored chalk drawings, and the last envelope (Env. 57) is a two-sided leaf of ms. notes, in pencil. One set of three original drawings, each one created by a different person, ranging in date from ca. 1780 to ca. 1890. Env. 10 contains a pencil drawing of a house that is titled, in ms., "At Andover Mass." On the verso is written, in ms., "To Eleanor, from Jennie." It is undated. This drawing measures 6 13/16 in. W x 4 13/16 in. H ; 17.3 cm. W x 12.2 cm. H. Env. 11 contains a pencil portrait of a bearded man and is titled, in ms., "Professor S.F.B. Morse." On the verso, "A.N. Chyace" is written in ms. This drawing is vertically oriented. It measures 4 7/8 in. W x 7 11/16 in. H ; 12.4 cm. W x 19.5 cm. H. Env. 12 contains an ink drawing on laid paper. The drawing is of four birds; two large and two small. Written in the verso of the sheet, in ms., is "Mary." This drawing is horizontally oriented, and measures 7 1/4 in. W x 2 6/8 in. H ; 18.3 cm.
