Image of a stone monument on a rise. The monument is surmounted with the shield of the State of New York. There is a bas-relief in the center of men preparing a cannon. Written on a ribbon at the top of the bas-relief: Battery I First Regiment N.Y. Light Artillery. On the bottom of the bas-relief: Capt. M. Wiedrich, Commanding. Engraved at the base of the monument: 2nd. Division 11th. Corps July 1st, 2nd, & 3rd, 1863. Monument honoring the 140th Pennsylvania Infantry, 3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Corps

At the top of the monument is a drum, below that the shamrock emblem of the Union Army's 2nd Corps is prominently carved into the stone.
