    One boxed set of watercolor paints entitled For A Good Child, manufacturer unknown, ca. 1925. The set is comprised of 21 small, rectangular embossed cakes of watercolor paint, one small, round porcelain dish, and a very small quill brush. The set is housed within a wooden box with a sliding lid. The set's title is printed on a paper label mounted to the interior of the box, just above the first row of paints. The sliding lid is decorated with a color printed illustration of two children by the water's edge. The illustration is signed "Dagood" in the lower left-hand corner. Each of the cakes of paint is embossed with an image of a swan. No manufacturer's name or date is present. Also included are two folded sheets of blotting paper.

    There are several variants of this edition, which had two distinct issues. The second issue, first state, corrected minor errors in the text, but not the date of publication, expanded the content of the fourth tract, and included two additional woodcut illustrations. The second issue, second state finally corrected the date of publication to read ".M.cccc.xcvii." Chancery folio, with paper measuring 26.9 x 18.8 cm. Text printed in 2 columns of 42-43 lines and headline; col. width: 6.1 cm.; area of text: 19.6 (20.5) x 13.3 cm. With foliation and signatures; without catchwords. Includes 48 mostly full- or half-page woodcut illustrations (many are repeated). Generally, they depict the master surgeon, his apprentices, his patients, and his instruments in a variety of scenarios. There are also 3 smaller sets of illustrations of surgical instruments within the text. The second issue contains two additional woodcut illustrations.--Cf. Schramm. Numerous foliation errors. Signatures: pi⁶ A-V⁶. Imperfect: leaf pi6 lacking. Binding: 16th/17th century Italian[?] semi-limp parchment; stamped "1604" on front cover.
