Visual Materials
A slightly elevated panoramic view of the 1924 Rose Bowl Game between the United States Naval Academy and the University of Washington at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The image is taken from the open end of the stadium (which was, at that time, horseshoe shaped), facing the field and the stands. There are five marines standing next to the base of the very tall flagpole in the center of the image, and dozens of sailors seated or standing along the near right edge of the field. The stands are mostly filled on the sides, but the far end is sparsely seated. The game is in progress, with most of the players on the field blurred due to motion. The stadium fence is visible on the far right, and there are a few people standing on the hill beyond it. There are a few automobiles parked inside the stadium at the near end of the field. Writing in white to the left of center reads "Photo No. 476 ; The Aerograph Co. ; 5880 Moneta ; Los Angeles, Calif."
