A panoramic view of the Fourth of July crowd at the beach in Long Beach. There are hundreds of people, in a mixture of suits and dresses and bathing suits. Many of the people are sitting beneath beach umbrellas or shaded beach chairs, while a couple dozen are in the water. The Pike, an amusement park with shops and rides, is on the far left, and the end of a roller coaster extends over the water at the right edge. In the distance a pier extends into the water, with the Sun pavilion at the far end. A white stamp in the bottom left corner reads "Pettit's Studio ; commercial photographers ; 1416 W. Pico Blvd. ; Richmond 8534 ; Los Angeles 15, Calif." Another white stamp below that reads "Jul 4 1924".

There are hundreds of people and dozens of umbrellas on the beach, and a large number of people in the water as well. The spiral slide in the center and the buildings along the shore are part of the Pike amusement park. A pier extends into the water on the far right. The Pike is along the beach on the right, with a roller coaster, rides, and shops, and beyond that is the pier. Writing in white in bottom left corner reads "Pierce ; Phto".

A panoramic view, facing south, of the intersection of Olympic and Crescent Heights. Olympic runs across the width of the image, with intersections with Foster and Carillo at the far right and left sides, respectively. The buildings are mainly two-story apartment buildings, with a few one family homes. There is a stamp reading "Pettit's Studio ; Commercial Photographers ; 1416 W. Pico Blvd. ; Richmond 8634 ; Los Angeles 15, Calif." at two places on the road, as well as a stamp with the date.
