A panoramic view of the beach, Pike, and pier in Long Beach, taken from just south of the beach, facing northeast. There are hundreds of people and dozens of umbrellas on the beach, and a large number of people in the water as well. The spiral slide in the center and the buildings along the shore are part of the Pike amusement park. A pier extends into the water on the far right. A white stamp in the bottom center reads "Pettit's Studio ; commercial photographers ; 1416 W. Pico Blvd. ; Richmond 8534 ; Los Angeles 15, Calif." Other white stamps read "Long Beach, California" and "1924".

A panoramic view of the Fourth of July crowd at the beach in Long Beach. There are hundreds of people, in a mixture of suits and dresses, and bathing suits. Many of the people are sitting beneath the dozens of beach umbrellas on the left side of the image. Beyond the umbrellas is the Pike, an amusement park with shops and rides, like the tall spiral slide in the background. Further in the distance, on the right, a pier extends into the water. Writing in white in the center of the image reads "Long Beach, Calif. - July 4th, 1923". Farther to the right is more writing in white which reads "Photo No. 268 ; The Aerograph Co. ; 1763 W. Vernon ; L.A. - Calif."

The street in the center is Ocean, with apartment buildings and stores on the left and apartment buildings and the West Coast Theatre on the right. On the left is the beach, with the pier and, beyond that, the Pike. There are a few people on the beach and in the water. The city of Long Beach stretches out into the distance on the right. A stamp at the bottom of Ocean reads "Pettit's Studio ; commercial photographers ; 1416 W. Pico Blvd. ; Richmond 8634 ; Los Angeles 15, Calif." Stamps below that read "Long Beach, California" and "1924".

A slightly elevated view, facing east, of the beach, Pike, pavilion, and pier in Long Beach. There are hundreds of people on the the beach, some dressed in suits and dresses, others in bathing suits, and several people in the water as well. A rowboat is heading toward the shore, and a little ways away a group of men are holding a rope that goes into the water. There is a row of stores, shops, and booths along both sides of the boardwalk on the left which, together with the rides, made up the Pike amusement park. In the background, the pier extends out into the ocean, with the Sun Pavilion at the southernmost end. There is a mechanical ride on the far right, next to the lunching pavilion.
