Diary - March-October

Description

Includes approximately twenty-five pages of handwritten and typed journal entries for the period of March to October in 1942. Approximately thirty pages of memos and reports, originally classified "CONFIDENTIAL," but with "DECLASSIFIED" stamped on them. A six-page "History of USS Pope (DD 225)," prepared by the Division of Naval History. There is a report (12 pp. of text) by Captain Welford C. Blinn, USN, USS Pope, DD 225, titled "Java Sea Battle and Prison Experiences." Texts of two Press Releases from United States Pacific Fleet, one a radio script for Mutual Broadcasting Service (June 21, 1942) titled "Mutual's Overseas Report, the other a speech given by Admiral Chester Nimitz at the University of Hawaii, Oct. 21, 1942.
