    William Allen White Foundation Annual Award Luncheon

    Three copies of a speech entitled "Newspapering As America Enters Its Third Century" given by Otis Chandler at the William Allen White Foundation Annual Award Luncheon held at the University of Kansas on April 30, 1975. Other items in this folder include nine pages of photocopied biographical information on William Allen White; several newspaper clippings about the award; a note from Freddie Miller regarding the dissemination of the speech to "our top people", two letters from Dolph C. Simons, Jr., President and Publisher of The Lawrence Daily Journal-World, one stating how nice it was to see them and the other about his upcoming trip to Los Angeles; a thank you letter from John Cowles, Jr., Chairman of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune Company; twenty-nine congratulatory letters; three thank you letters sent out by Otis Chandler; sixteen items of correspondence which included congratulatory letters and Otis Chandler's response attached to them; a memo from Clark Akers to Frank Flood, with an attached response letter from Otis Chandler; a letter from Archie R. Dykes, Chancellor at The University of Kansas, confirming the visit and a response letter from Otis Chandler; four different speech reprint booklets from prior award winners.

    Coro Foundation's Public Affairs Awards Dinner

    Two copies of a speech given by Otis Chandler at the Coro Foundation's Public Affairs Awards Dinner on March 2, 1978. Other items in this folder include a note from Freddie Miller with the names of the other recipients; a brochure of the event; a program of the event; a phone-o-gram for Freddie Miller from Judy Anderson of GM Public Relations requesting a copy of the speech; a note from Freddie Miller recommending taking a table; two photographs with a note from Andrea L. Fisher, Executive Director of the Coro Foundation; two copies of a letter from Coro (C. Thomas Wilck, Peggy Funkhouser and Andrea L. Fisher), providing additional information regarding the event; a note from Coro requesting Chandler's biography; a letter to Vance L. Stickell from March Fong EU and Thorton F. Bradshaw of Atlantic Richfield Company, in which they invite Stickell to the event and enclose a card to return with those who commit to buy or sell tables; the card to buy or sell tables; a thank you letter from Lloyd B. Dennis, Chairman and President of Coro Foundation; two letters of correspondence between Assemblyman Paul T. Bannai, Fifty-Third District California Legislature, and Otis Chandler, in which Bannai congratulates Chandler for winning the award and Chandler responds with a thank you letter; two letters of correspondence between Jack Tenner of Olney, Levy, Kaplan and Tenner, and Otis Chandler in which Tenner thanks Chandler for his contributions to the city and a great speech, and Chandler responds by stating he appreciated the thoughtful letter and that he states he was ill that night; a congratulatory letter from Peggy Funkhouser, Trustee Dinner Chairman; a thank you letter from Andrea L. Fisher; a remittance statement for the purchase of a table for 10 people at the event; a thank you card/receipt from Coro for the purchase of the table; and three notes, one is typed. The first note is a typed note to Bill from "NT" regarding Egyptian Ambassador coming to Los Angeles. The second note is regarding a silver Corvette. The third and last note has an address, an phone number and the name Ginny Green written on it.

Also in this folder is a schedule for the Coro Foundation visit that was held on Wednesday, March 14, 1979
