Kashnor notes, "Shows California as an island, and the imaginary Strait of Anian. This is one of the decorative type, richly colored." Shirley notes this map originates with that of Arnold Colom, c.1655, which supplied the surround scenes. This map was modified by de Wit and used by Doncker in his Zee Atlas (does NOT appear in the Doncker atlas owned by the Huntington, RB 70778). Kashnor dates as 1665, Shirley as 1676.
