Stephen Wrabel has made a career out of connection, writing songs for Kesha, Meghan Trainor, and P!nk. His relatable, all-too-human themes can be heard in such hits as the love-ache of 2017’s “11 Blocks,” 2019’s culturally reverberating LGBTQ+ anthem “The Village,” and 2020’s “Hurts Like Hell,” which made its debut on the Today show.

The Trans Chorus of Los Angeles is the first all trans-identified chorus in America, composed of transgender, nonbinary, intersex, gender-nonconforming, and gender-fluid individuals. The TCLA was born out of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles and has proudly represented the TGI community since 2015. The chorus performed for the inauguration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in early 2021. TCLA celebrates diversity, acceptance, awareness, understanding, power, and victory for the trans community.

Pride Poets brings together talented poets from the LGBTQ+ community to write and share their work, paying tribute to their experiences, capturing their stories, and spreading love. The organization was founded by Brian Sonia-Wallace, who holds the esteemed positions of West Hollywood City Poet Laureate and 2021–22 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellow for LGBTQ+ literary activism.

The Huntington is a contributor to Hidden Histories, an online research guide and discovery tool that allows researchers, students, educators, and community members to find relevant and related LGBTQ+ collections and archival material from across Los Angeles.

The project is a partnership between ONE Archives at USC and LA as Subject. Hidden Histories is funded by a generous grant from the California State Library.
