    A color lithograph poster created by the Health Education Council as part of their anti-smoking campaign, designed to discourage children from smoking tobacco cigarettes. The poster features an image of Superman in profile, flying over a cloudy sky with a gray halftone cityscape below. Rays of light from his eyes depict his X-ray vision pointed towards the sky and buildings to the right of the image. A speech balloon to the upper right of the figure reads, "With my amazing X-ray vision I can see the harm cigarettes do inside people's bodies. That's why I don't smoke!" The words "X-ray vision," "harm," and "smoke" are stylized in bold and italic font. The lower right of the poster includes a depiction of a figure smoking, with Superman's X-ray vision highlighting a detail of the figure's lungs. The image is colored and shaded using halftone and Ben Day dot effects. Text on the center left reads, "Superman is the trademark of DC Comics Inc. 1979.     Ireland's war map

    A color lithograph recruitment poster promoting Irish involvement in World War I. The upper half of the print includes a map of Ireland reading, "100,000 men still eligible," with two superimposed insets highlighting battles in Belgium, France, Greece, and Turkey that Irish regiments fought in. The lower half of the poster reads "Ireland at the front looks to Ireland at home to answer the call." The lower left corner includes the publisher's signature reading, "Issued by the Department of Recruiting for Ireland, 32 Nassau St., Dublin." Lithographer Alex, Thom & Co.'s signature on the lower right corner.

    Exposition Internationale d'Électricité, Marseille : Avril-Octobre 1908, 1908

    An announcement poster for the International Electricity Exposition taking place in Marseille, France in 1908. The print features an allegorical image of a woman or "Electricity Fairy" flying over and illuminating the Marseille exposition. Sparks of electricity are shown as a halo centering her as she looks down onto the exposition site, with rays of light emanating from her hands onto the illuminated structures below. The figure is nude and painted in varying shades of green, with hair flowing against a dark blue and red sky. Text towards the lower right of the figure reads, "Exposition Internationale d'Electricite Marseille, Avril-Octobre 1908." Below the title, the print is signed by the artist, "D. Dellepiane" on the bottom right. The print is signed by the printer twice, with one in the left margin reading, "Imp. Moullot Fils Ainé, Marseille," and again in the top left with a decorative printer's mark of an image of a printing press wheel and text reading "Affiches Moullot Marseille - Paris."

    A watercolor and pencil sketch for the book jacket of Octavia E. Butler's novel, Kindred (1979). The illustration depicts two profiles of Black women with their backs parallel to one another, centered by an image of a flowing hourglass. The woman on the left is accessorized and in modern attire, while the woman on the right is in lace-collared clothing. Signed in pencil on the lower right by the artist, "L. Schwinger."

    Andersonville Prison : Georgia

    An uncolored view print of 33,000 Union soldiers imprisoned in Andersonville Prison, a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp. The foreground includes an image of Captain Henry Wirz, shown on horseback escorting a prisoner dressed in tattered clothes to the stockade. Inside the wooden fenced camp, prisoners are depicted in densely packed and cramped enclosures, shown either in acts of labor or carried out on stretchers. The prison is surrounded by armed guards, barren trees, and a forest in the background. The print is labeled with a number key identifying eight scenes; the key reads: "1. Upper Cook - house; 2. Barracks for the sick; 3. Fort of Six Guns; 4. Rebel Sutler's Tent; 5. Swamp within the prison; 6. Bake House; 7. Capt. Wirz taking a prisoner to the Stocks; 8. Meat Wagon." The title is printed in the lower center and reads, "Andersonville Prison: Georgia. Representing the imprisonment of 33,000 Union Soldiers during the months of June, July, and August 1864." Signed and dated by artist John B. Walker in lower left. Signed by lithographer T. Sinclair in lower right. Signed in stone by artist Anton Hohenstein in the image's lower right corner. The top of the print reads "No 1. North View."

    A century of birds from the Himalaya Mountains [graphic]

    Three hand-colored lithographs of ornithological illustrations from A Century of Birds from the Himalaya Mountains. Prints include depictions of Vanellus goensis (plate 78), Ibidorhyncha struthersii (plate 79), and Anser indica (plate 80). All illustrations present the birds from a side-profile while posed standing on grassy plains. The birds' feathers, markings, beaks, and legs are colored. All prints include their title in the lower center, with signatures on lower left reading, "Drawn from Nature & on Stone by E. Gould", and lower right reading, "Printed by C. Hullmandel." The print for Anser indica includes text below the title that reads "2/3 Nat. Size," indicating that the other illustrations are life-size depictions of the specimens.
