Description: The photographs consist of views within the counties of Los Angeles, Monterey, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz, Ventura, and San Francisco. Specific locations along the coast capture images of Angel Island, Coronado Beach, Lake Tahoe, Monterey Bay, Point Loma, Port Harford (Port San Luis), San Francisco Bay, and Sausalito Bay. Also included are images of what appear to be an early Chinese community of fisherman mending fishing nets and drying squid along the coast of Monterey Bay, San Francisco's Warner's CobWeb Palace, Don Antonio de Coronel's rancho, Gaviota Pass, and the Stanford University Gates in Palo Alto. Several images are credited to I.N. Cook, the Rhea Bros., E.W. Turner, R.J. Waters, and W.H.J & Co. The majority of the images are albumen but also include gelatin silver prints and carte de visite photographs. Handwritten notes cite "Hardy, 1945" which may refer to the original Grahame Hardy collection acquired in 1945.

A collection of ten published photographs by Britton & Rey distributed as newspaper supplements in the San Francisco News Letter. Items consist of eight published photographs of architectural views in the San Francisco Bay area, California, as well as a photograph of the USS Charleston and a phototype architectural drawing of "The Marquam" hotel in San Francisco, designed by J.M. Wood. Most of the architectural views feature the exteriors of large houses in San Jose, as well as a house in Oakland, and the St. James Hotel and the Strathmore Building in San Francisco.

The albumen photographs consist of three Stereoscopic Views depicting the Alamo, Espada Mission, and Mission San Jose in San Antonio, Texas photographed by F. Hardesty. The cabinet cards capture Ensign Peak, Garfield Landing, and the "Saltair Pavilion" in Salt Lake, Utah; one of the photograph cards is attributed to C.R. Savage. The final photograph is of an unidentified army post. Handwritten notes cite "Hardy, 1945" which may refer to the original Grahame Hardy collection acquired in 1945.

Collection of miscellaneous Northern California photographs and portraits
Visual Materials
The collection of images include a botanical specimen photograph card (sarcodes sanguniea torrey or snow plant of the Sierra), a U.S. Army encampment scene (Sacramento), portraits, and buildings. Among the photographs are roof tops (San Jose), the Santa Barbara Mission capturing priests in the corridor, Auburn Poultry Producer (store facade), William Chapman Ralston (1826-1875) San Francisco Banker, Miss Adams (Mormon actress), Mary Anderson's farm (Oakland), and a postcard photograph of First Bank in Northern California at Coloma. The Auburn Poultry photograph is noted as being a gift of Collis Halladay (1893) and a majority of the photographs cite "Hardy, 1945" which may refer to the original Grahame Hardy collection acquired in 1945.
