A slightly elevated panoramic view of runways at United Airport in Burbank. The photograph was probably taken from the terminal building, with the Pacific Air Transport building is on the right. There are six rows of three airplanes parked in formation on the left, and at least seven rows of three larger airplanes parked on a perpendicular runway on the right. Beyond the planes on the right there are dozens more planes, closely parked in rows of six to ten. The finding aid describes these airplanes as "military airplanes"--some of the larger biplanes are US Army bombers, including the Curtiss B-2 and the Keystone LB-6.. There are crowds of people on the raised viewing area where the photographer is, some in military uniforms, as well as hundreds more on the ground facing the airplanes. Writing in white in the bottom right corner reads "Photo by ; F.M. Huddleston ; 4-26-1930".

The Eugene Swarzwald Pictorial California and the Pacific Collection consists of 9,674 black and white photographs, negatives, a photograph album, magazine mock-ups, letters, and ephemera, dated 1909-ca. 1968. Eugene Swarzwald and the Swarzwald family collected the material for use in the magazine "Pictorial California and the Pacific." Images depict California and the West with some coverage of the rest of the United States and international destinations. The collection contains photographs depicting general city views of communities in California, scenic views of wilderness areas, images of parks, schools and universities, museums, and points of historic interest (including California mining towns and missions). The collection is strong in subjects related to leisure and social and recreational activities. Many of the photographs are by the Keystone Photo Service. The four-page letter from Theodore K. Griffin to his brother Byron describes the sugarcane plantations, geography, local vegetation, and Indigenous populations in Luzon, Philippines. The 33 snapshots and 4 photographic post cards depict local Indigenous groups including Igorot children, American soldiers, airplanes, and an aviation wreck. Many of the photographs have handwritten descriptions on the back and some of the people identified are: Brigadier General Hagood; Brigadier General Mitchell; Colonel Hand; and "Chief Lucas," a local Indigenous man given that title by General Hagood. Please note that this collection contains historical images and language that library users may find harmful, offensive, or inappropriate.

An album of photographs depicting members of the Branesky family posing with airplanes and equipment, and several aerial views of Los Angeles cityscapes and oil fields taken while in flight. Many photographs were taken at Dycer Airport, which was located in Inglewood, Los Angeles County, California. Images include the boys with model airplanes, their flight instructors, airplane mechanics, a crashed plane, and the Braneskys' airplanes, with several captions. A few newspaper clippings discuss the Branesky brothers and their enthusiasm for flying. The final pages of the album include photographs of boats, a deep-sea fishing excursion with family members posed with fish, and scenery around Mt. Wilson.
