United Airport and military airplanes, Burbank. April 26, 1930
- Description
- A slightly elevated panoramic view of runways at United Airport in Burbank. The photograph was probably taken from the terminal building, with the Pacific Air Transport building is on the right. There are six rows of three airplanes parked in formation on the left, and at least seven rows of three larger airplanes parked on a perpendicular runway on the right. Beyond the planes on the right there are dozens more planes, closely parked in rows of six to ten. The finding aid describes these airplanes as "military airplanes"--some of the larger biplanes are US Army bombers, including the Curtiss B-2 and the Keystone LB-6.. There are crowds of people on the raised viewing area where the photographer is, some in military uniforms, as well as hundreds more on the ground facing the airplanes. Writing in white in the bottom right corner reads "Photo by ; F.M. Huddleston ; 4-26-1930".
