    An album with approximately 250 photographs of Los Angeles County, California, and Denver, Colorado. Views of Los Angeles and vicinity include street scenes, oil derricks, Angel's Flight, the North Beach Bath House and Bowling Pavilion in Santa Monica, Arcadia Hotel in Santa Monica, Castle Green in Pasadena, and Cawston Ostrich Farm and its solar-powered engine, the "Solar Motor" (a cone-shaped reflector used to collect and focus sunlight). Views of Denver include the State Capitol building and the BPO Elks Golden Jubilee celebration, held in 1914. Several winter scenes (probably from Colorado) feature large groups ice-skating. There are views of unidentified rural landscapes of plains, farms, and railroad tracks through wooded areas. A photograph near the end is labeled "A study in bronze" and shows six Native American children seated on two donkeys with a Native American man standing nearby.

    Visual Materials

    Photograph album containing snapshots and commercial photographs documenting early aviation activities around Long Beach, California, chiefly in the late 1920s. Included are views of pilots, aircraft, and many images of crashes of commercial and private planes. Many of the photographs accompanied by descriptive handwritten captions. This scrapbook was compiled by Jack Niblack, Signal Hill Chief of Police and an early licensed pilot. Also accompanied by framed image of Signal Hill oil fields.

    A slightly elevated panoramic view of Los Angeles International Airport on the day of its dedication, probably taken from the top of a hangar. There are dozens of airplanes parked in rows on the runway on the left, and rows of parked automobiles in a large lot on the right. There is a large white hangar in the center of the image, with a crowd of people on the left. Small groups of people are walking towards the crowds from the parking lot. There are vacant runways on the left. Writing in white in the bottom center reads "Photo by ; F.M. Huddleston" and "Los Angeles Airport Dedication ; June 7. 1930."

    A panoramic view of Los Angeles International Airport on the day of its dedication. There are dozens of airplanes parked in rows facing the center of the image, where there is a large, open hangar, decorated with flags and bunting, and a crowd of people in front of it. There is a terminal building on the left and other hangars on the right. An unfinished hangar on the far right has numerous spectators sitting on the roof. The entire foreground is occupied by an empty runway. Writing in white in the bottom center reads "Los Angeles Airport Dedication ; June 7. 1930." Writing in white in the bottom right corner reads "Photo by ; F.M. Huddleston".

    A photographic album with 127 photographs of Los Angeles, Pasadena, the Arroyo Seco, and surrounding areas in Southern California. The photographs include views of the Hotel Green and the Carnival (later the Festival) of Roses in Pasadena, the Los Angeles City Oil Field taken from Westlake Park, and informal group photographs in nearby camping areas like Camp Sturtevant in the Angeles National Forest and Wilson's Peak. Several group photographs taken in front of houses and include dogs. There are also some views of Niagara Falls and the James A. Garfield Memorial in Cleveland, Ohio, and 16 clippings of inspirational articles from the Christian Science Monitor.

    Photograph album of Chinese American aviation mechanic students

    Visual Materials

    A photograph album of 83 snapshot photographs compiled by an unidentified Chinese American graduate of the Curtiss-Wright Technical Institute, an early trade school for aircraft maintenance training in Los Angeles, California. The images document the social and professional lives of young Chinese Americans in Southern California during the 1930s. Images depict groups of Chinese American friends and co-workers, often seen in outings to Redondo Beach, Hollywood, and public gardens. There are also images of aircraft, cars, and students in mechanical workshops. There is no writing in the album, but a few prints have locations and dates written on the back.
