    One painting book entitled Birds to Paint, published by the Saalfield Publishing Co., Akron, Ohio, 1910. The front cover features a parrot with a yellow head. On the back cover is a child's writing; the name "Louise" can be read. Thirty images of various birds are included, six of which have an identical color image. These color images were meant to guide the student in the use of color. The first page describes the book as: "a paint book for boys and girls which supplies sketches ready to color." Most of the images have been filled in with crayon rather than watercolor.

The front cover of the book depicts a lion family; the name "Gerald" is written in ms., in pencil in the upper left-hand corner. The book consists of twenty-four outline images. The first page describes the book as: "a paint book for boys and girls which supplies sketches ready to color." and gives instructions on the use of watercolor. There book consists of twenty-four images of various animals, six of which have an identical color image meant to guide the student in the use of color. Most of the images have been filled in with crayon rather then watercolor.

    One painting book entitled Objects to Paint, published by the Saalfield Publishing Co., Akron, Ohio, 1910. The cover of the book shows three identical girls, dressed in red coats with black umbrellas. On the back cover "Herbert From Aunt Hattie" is written in ms., in pencil. On the inside cover in crayon , is the name "Herbert Goody". Thirty images of various objects and scenes, such as a ball or a train of cars or national flags are included in the book. Six of the images are mirrored with an identical color image to guide the student in the use of color. The first page describes the book as "a paint book for boys and girls which supplies sketches ready to color." Most of the images have been filled in with crayon rather than watercolor.

    One boxed painting set entitled Cracker Jack Painting and Drawing Book for Crayon and Water Color Painting, manufactured by Saalfield Publishing Company, Akron, Ohio, New York and Chicago, copyright 1917. The set is comprised of six small cakes of watercolor paint in wooden tubs, two metal dishes, a paintbrush, a box of 8 (5 are missing) wax crayons, and a painting and drawing book that contains chromolithograph and lithograph images for painting and coloring. Printed at the top of the title on the top lid is "It's an Ullman Coloring Outfit." "The Ullman Mfg. Co., N.Y." is printed at the bottom of the top lid. The drawing/coloring book has been colored in, but not completely. The paints have been used. The painting book bears the copyright date of 1917.

This book is comprised of 44 unnumbered pages of both color and black and white illustrations. Silhouettes against a rainbow of colors are featured on the front cover; the title appears below the illustration. The back cover duplicates the front cover. "No. 207" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The pastedowns are illustrated. "Copyright, 1929, The Saalfield Publishing Co., Akron, Ohio" is printed on the verso of the title page. Page [5] is informational text entitled "How Colors are Made." The remainder of the pages are illustrations, many of which have been colored in with crayon. "From someone that would love to be your Auntie, Mary [?]" is written in ms., in red crayon, on the front flyleaf. "Helen V." is also written on the front flyleaf, in ms.

    One drawing/painting book, ca. 1910, entitled Drawing and Painting Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts. This book is 24 unnumbered pages in length, and contains illustrations for coloring. The front cover is a chromolithograph illustration of a girl reading a book while imaginary fairies and butterflies fly around her. "Made in U.S.A. McLoughlin Bros. Inc., Springfield, Mass." is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The back cover is a chromolithograph image of a jar of paintbrushes and several jars of paint. The title page features an illustration of young Dutch children and descriptive text beneath the title: "A Drawing and Painting Book designed according to the best art methods of starting with simple design and color and progressing to more advanced subjects." Some of the illustrations are in pairs, with one printed in color and the other in outline form, which was meant for coloring. Included are images of people, buildings and animals. Some of the images have been colored with crayon or watercolor.
