    One painting and drawing book, copyright 1955, entitled Objects to Color or Paint, published by Platt & Munk Co. This book is 12 unnumbered pages in length and is comprise of outline images to paint. The front cover is a color image of an apple against a green background. "No. 068 B, Copr. MCMLV, The Platt & Munk Co., Inc., Made in U.S.A." is printed across the bottom of the front cover. The back cover contains the last image intended for coloring. Printed on the inside of the front cover are "Practical Instructions for Coloring With Paints or Crayons." There are 14 pages (including both sides of the back cover) of color and outline images for coloring. Some of them include a clock, a bed, socks, a dress and a television. None of the images have been colored. "25" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

    One boxed drawing set entitled Little Wonder Pictures to Color and Draw: Easy Steps for Children in Coloring and Drawing, copyright 1923, manufactured by the Platt & Munk Co., New York. This set is comprised of one drawing book of approximately 100 pages in length and colored crayons, all housed together in a paperboard box. The drawing book contains images for copying and coloring. Nine colored crayons are present; they have been used. The copyright date on the title page of the drawing book is 1921; the date on the top lid of the box is 1923. Some of the images within the book have been copied and colored.

    One folder of images for painting entitled Prang's Outline Pictures with Directions for Coloring, Series 1, Children, published by L. Prang & Co., Boston, 1888. Within the folder are 9 outline images for coloring; each is titled with the subject, generally characters from fairy tales. Printed in the lower left-hand corner of each leaf is "Copyright 1888 by L. Prang Co. Boston." Also within the folder are three printed sheets: one contains coloring instructions, one is an informational piece about the set, and the third is a manufacturer's advertisement for Prang's Christmas Cards.

    One painting book, ca. 1935, entitled Flowers, A Paint Book, illustrated by Pru Herric, published by Whitman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin. This book is composed of 32 unnumbered pages of outline drawings of flowers. The front cover illustration is of flowers within a white trellis pattern. The back cover is the same pattern, but with different flowers. Each of the pages for coloring features a single type of flower that is identified by its common name; color suggestions are below the name of the flower. Some of the images have been colored in with chalk.

    One art instruction book entitled Introductory Lessons in Drawing and Painting in Water-Colors, by Marion Kemble, published by S.W. Tilton & Company, Boston, copyright 1882. Following a preface and an introduction, the book is informally divided into 4 sections, the first of which is entitled "Perspective". The remaining sections are: "Water colors," "Directions for coloring". The book is 66 pages in length, with an additional 13 unnumbered pages of testimonials and advertisements at the end. Two pages of publisher's advertisements for "Self-Instructive Lessons in drawing and painting in water-colors" precede the title page. Each section within the book is illustrated with line drawings; the section entitled "Directions for coloring" contains 7 full-page illustrations. Of these, 6 are numbered and are accompanied by textual instruction for painting. The back cover is a publisher's advertisement for "Bulfinch's Mythology. The Age of Fable" edited by Rev. E.E. Hale. The insides of the front and back covers are blank. "H.N.[?] Gey.[?]" is written in ms. in ink, in the upper right-hand corner, "V.B. Cummings" is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper left-hand corner of the front cover.

    One coloring book entitled A Boatload of Pictures to Color, illustrated by Corrine and Bill Bailey, published by The Saalfield Publishing Company, Akron, Ohio, and New York, copyright 1938. The title page reads: A Boatload of Pictures drawn for you by Corinne & Bill Bailey. This is a large, novelty coloring book that is 48 unnumbered pages in length. There is a storyline of text accompanying the pictures, written as if the reader was a passenger on a cruise ship. The illustrations are of things, people, equipment and sights associated with cruises and ships. The front and back covers are a single image of a large, modern ship sailing through the water. The cover illustration is signed "Bill Bailey." The insides of the front and back covers are blank. Many of the illustrations have been colored in with crayon. "April 5, 1939, Bruce C. Tibbetts" is written in ms., in purple crayon, on the inside of the front cover.
