Huestis, New York, 1844. The drawing book is comprised of 12 unnumbered plates of lithograph images of landscapes and scenes, all of which are unsigned. The title and publication information on the front cover are within a plain double ruled frame; the back cover is illustrated. The insides of the front and back covers are blank. A black ink ownership stamp of R. Palmer Po[s]t is stamped on the recto of the first leaf.

    One drawing book entitled The New Progressive Drawing Book, Containing Lithographic Sketches, and Drawings of Landscape Scenery, Designed for Self Instruction, published by C.P. Huestis, New York, 1847. This drawing book is 24 unnumbered pages in length and contains lithograph images only (no text). There are several different images per page, some of which are landscapes and seascapes. Title and publication information on the front cover are within a simple frame ornamented by acorns. The insides of the front and back covers are blank, and the back cover is a publisher's advertisement from C.P. Huestis. "35-" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

    One manufacturer's advertisement book entitled Slate Drawings, Useful & Instructive, published by Belding Bros. & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1910, "compliments of Balding Bros. silk thread." This promotional piece for Balding Bros. silk thread contains 12 unnumbered pages of white-on-black illustrations designed to look like chalk drawings on slates. The inside of the front cover promotes this edition of Belding Bros. & Co.'s Drawing Book. The inside back cover contains illustrated instructions for crocheting a "four-in-hand scarf crocheted from Belding's silk." The title on the front cover is within a drawing slate frame.

    One drawing book entitled Philips' Drawing Copy Book, Designed & Drawn by a Practical Teacher, No. 3, published by George Philip & Son, London, ca. 1870. This book is comprised of 8 lithographed, unnumbered plates. Each plate is comprised of an image (buildings, such as houses and churches) and space for copying. There is no text. The title on the front cover is superimposed on a lithograph view of a man who is drawing at the edge of a lake, with a mountainous background. Most of the interior plates are signed by different artists. These include: Greet; Coalport; Birmingham; Troubridge; Bridnorth[?]; Douglas; the last image is unsigned. At the bottom of the front cover a blue paper label is mounted. It reads: "Boston School Supply Co. 15 Bromfield St., Boston, Mass. John A Boyle, Manager." The back cover bears a publisher's advertisement for "Philips' Drawing Copy Books, series of easy landscapes."

    One art instruction book entitled The Columbian Drawing Book, designed for Schools and Private Instruction, by William B. Shattuck, No. 2, published by Bradley & Anthony, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1849. Additional publishers listed on the title page are: New York, Cady & Burgess; Boston: James Monroe & Co. The book consists of 6 pages of text, followed by 8 numbered lithographs, printed by Otto Oncken, Cincinnati [Ohio]. The black and white images are primarily of houses, the first two are schematic in nature. On the back cover is a publisher's announcement for the Columbian Drawing Book and the Columbian Drawing Cards. Recommendations for use of this book are found on the inside of the front cover; the inside of the back cover is an advertisement for Bradley & Anthony, Publishers, Booksellers and Stationers.

    One drawing/painting book, ca. 1905, entitled Little Folks' Painting and Drawing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., New York. This book is 32 unnumbered pages in length and is comprised of chromolithograph and black and white lithographs in outline form for coloring. The front cover features an image of two children wrapping a gift box. "0701, McLoughlin Bros. N.Y." is printed in the lower left-hand corner beneath the image. The back cover is not illustrated, but the paper is decorated in a simple pattern. "Directions" are printed on the front pastedown, and the title page is illustrated with a black and white image of a boy painting a fence. All of the illustrations are of animals; some have been colored. A ms. inscription in ink is on the title page. "2.-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the title page.
