One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Slate Drawings for the Young Folks, published by Belding Bros. & Co., Boston, Massachusetts, ca. 1891. This 16-page booklet is a promotional piece for Belding Bros. & Co.'s silk products as well as an instructional aid. Each page contains several white-on-black illustrations, designed to represent chalk drawings on a drawing slate. Above and below each illustrated page are advertising and promotional statements about Belding Brothers & Co.'s silk thread. The front cover is designed to look like a drawing slate, with the text written on the slate. The insides of the front and back covers are advertisements, as is the back cover. "Lillian Wright, Jan. 4, 1891, Ayer, Mass." is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the inside front cover.

One drawing book/manufacturer's advertisement entitled The Singer Drawing Book for Young Artists, published by Singer Sewing Machine Co., copyright 1900. This promotional booklet is comprised of 8 pages of illustrations and 8 leaves of tracing paper, one over each page. The chromolithograph front cover shows a seated boy, writing at a table. The inside of the front cover advertises several different models of Singer sewing machines. "Copyright 1900 Singer Mfg. Co." is printed, in very light ink, at the bottom of the front cover.

The Calumet Prize Drawing Book, No. 1

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled The Calumet Prize Drawing Book, No. 1, published by Calumet Baking Powder Company, Chicago, ca. 1902. This booklet contains 6 leaves of black and white lithograph illustrations, each covered by a leaf of tracing paper. The inside of the front cover, as well as the recto of the first illustration, contain advertisements for Calumet Baking Powder. Two illustrated advertising rhymes are found on the verso of the last leaf and on the inside of the back cover. Instructions for use of this drawing book are found on the inside of the front cover. Some of the illustrations for copying are: a rhinoceros, a train, tulips and a can of Calumet Baking Powder. The front cover is a chromolithograph illustration of children dressed for a parade. "M. Umbdenstock & Co." (presumably the lithographer) is printed at the bottom of the inside of the back cover.

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Drawing Book, published by Chase & Sanborn, Boston, Massachusetts, 1897. This 12-page promotional booklet is comprised of lithograph images for copying, space for copying the pictures, and instructional and promotional text. The back and front covers are chromolithograph images; the front cover illustration is of three children who are drawing while seated on a pencil swing suspended by pink ribbons. The back cover features a landscape view, and an image of a can of Chase & Sanborn coffee. On the bottom of the back cover is printed "For sale by M.V. B. Clark, Keene, N.H." One of the images for copying is a coffee plant. On another page is a group of faces for coloring: "Character scketches, A Cheerful Group. [below each person's face], i.e. The grocer who sells the coffee. The boy who delivers it. The cook who prepares it. The waitress who serves it. This is the happy family that drinks it. This is the can of coffee. None of the images have been copied.

One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Children's Drawing Book, published by The Coats Thread Co., American Works, Pawtucket, Rhode Island, ca. 1890. This drawing book is 8 pages in length and contains 5 images, on grids, for copying onto separate grids. The first image is on the inside of the front cover. The front and back covers are printed in red. The title is framed by a decorative flourish above an image of an open sketchbook with drawing tools. Beneath is printed: "Presented by The Coats Thread Co. Sole agents U.S. for J. & P. Coats' Spool Cotton. (American Works, Pawtucket, R.I.)". On the back cover is an image of a spool of thread with the words "J. & P. Coats' best six cord spool cotton. White, fast black & colors."

One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1928. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of illustrations for tracing, copying and coloring, and 8 leaves of tracing paper. The front and back covers are chromolithograph illustrations; the front cover features a boy drawing and a girl at play, the back cover illustration is of a seated child drawing. Above her are the words: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." "510" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The illustrations within this book are grouped by category, and each leaf is labeled: "Little Folks Friends (toys); Feathered Friends; Four Footed Friends; Fruits and [has been cut out]; The Farmer and the Goose (signed by Rhoda Chase); Towser and the Snow Man (also signed by Rhoda Chase); and Mothers Sewing Circle." Many of the images have been traced and colored in. "Alice Brown, Dec. 25, 1928" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the back cover. "Alice Brown" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the front cover.
