    One drawing book entitled École de Dessin, No 272, publisher not given, ca. 1850. This French drawing book is comprised of 12 lithograph plates, containing 6 different images, in pairs. Each image appears twice; once in outline form and again in completed form with shading, texture, etc. Two of the plates are labeled. The penultimate plate is printed with the lithographer's name at the bottom: "Lith. de Becquet fres." The front cover is printed on green paper and is decorated with a vignette of two seated girls reading a book, with the title of this book printed on a board at their feet. The book number (272) is stamped in red ink at the bottom. "Sophia Lincoln Gould, from Uncle John, Jan. 1, 1850" is written in ms., in ink, on the front flyleaf.

    One drawing book entitled Lithographie Joseph Scholz, Teichenschule. Modeles de Dessin. Teekenschool, lithography by Joseph Scholz, published in Mainz, Germany, ca. 1875?. This book is comprised of 12 unnumbered lithograph plates for copying. The title and publication information on the front cover are within a plain line frame. The insides of the front and back covers are blank, as is the back cover. Most of the images are of rural settings, and include pieces of farming equipment and structures. There is an original pencil drawing on the interior and exterior back covers, and some additions to the third image.

    One manufacturer's advertisement/drawing book entitled Easy Drawing for Little Ones, published by Fleischmann Co., New York, ca. 1885?. This 8-page promotional drawing booklet contains an illustrated "story" of a little girl who makes bread using Fleischmann's yeast. Each page contains a few lines of rhyming text. Bound in between the images are leaves of tracing paper. The chromolithographed front cover features an image of a young girl and boy who are making bread. "No. 16" is printed in the lower right-hand corner of the front cover. The insides of the front and back cover contain advertising text for Fleischmann's yeast, as does the back cover. Some of the images have been traced.

    One joint drawing and tracing book entitled Great Big Drawing and Tracing Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1928. This book is comprised of 8 leaves of illustrations for tracing, copying and coloring, and 8 leaves of tracing paper. The front and back covers are chromolithograph illustrations; the front cover features a boy drawing and a girl at play, the back cover illustration is of a seated child drawing. Above her are the words: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever." "510" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. The illustrations within this book are grouped by category, and each leaf is labeled: "Little Folks Friends (toys); Feathered Friends; Four Footed Friends; Fruits and [has been cut out]; The Farmer and the Goose (signed by Rhoda Chase); Towser and the Snow Man (also signed by Rhoda Chase); and Mothers Sewing Circle." Many of the images have been traced and colored in. "Alice Brown, Dec. 25, 1928" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the back cover. "Alice Brown" is written in ms., in pencil, at the top of the front cover.

    Three drawing books entitled Weigall's Drawing Book of Animals, Nos. 2, 5 and 6, published by George Rowney and Company, London, circa 1875?. Each book is comprised of four lithograph plates; the plates in book No. 2 are numbered 5-8; those in book No. 5 are numbered 17-20, and those in book No. 6 are numbered 21-24. Printed below the title on the front cover of each is: "In Twelve numbers, price sixpence each." The inside of the front cover is an advertisement for "George Rowney & Co.'s Colour Boxes"; the inside of the back cover is a publisher's advertisement for art books. The advertisement on the back cover is for "Water Colour Lesson Drawings." Images in No. 2 include a bear and a bull; in No. 5 a kangaroo and a goat; in No. 6 a lion and a deer. A sheet of paper containing original artwork is laid in to each of the three books. "Ida Lill Alice" is written in ms. at the top of the front cover of book No. 2."E.O./B.K." is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of each of the three books.

This book is comprised of 14 pages (including the insides of the front and back covers) of either step-by-step drawing instructions for line drawing or colored and uncolored images for coloring, copying, or tracing. The front cover is an image of a clown drawing a picture of a dog. "No. 3500" is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover. "$1.00" (price) is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the first page. Some of the illustrations in the book have been colored in with crayon.
