One drawing book, untitled, by F.J. Monroe, ca. 1880? The drawing book is 12 unnumbered leaves in length. It contains 11 original drawings, three of which are in pencil and colored pencil; the remainder are in pencil only. Some of the images within the book are a deer, a tree, a windmill, castles, and a chicken. The first image, which is drawin in pencil and colored pencil, is titled "Wild Tiger-lily" and is signed, in ms., "F.J. Monroe." Tissue guard sheets are bound in between each of the leaves. Title supplied by cataloger.

Three Drawing Books

Three drawing books of original drawings, each entitled Drawing Book, created by Oswald Windle, between 1876 and 1892. Each of the drawing books were manufactured by J.W. & Co., London. The three books have the same illustrated front and back covers; the front covers are illustrated with a still life of artist's materials within a decorative frame, and the back cover is illustrated with a lithograph image of a house within its landscape. Each book is approximately 14 leaves in length, and contains original and copied drawings in pencil, ink, charcoal pencil, and watercolor. Some, but not all, of the drawings are signed and dated between 1876 and 1892.

One drawing book of original and copied drawings entitled Drawing Book, created by L.A. Cunningham, 1854-1872. The book is comprised of 22 leaves of pencil drawings, some of which are dated between 1854 and 1872. The front and back covers are illustrated with engravings; the illustration on the front cover is of Egyptian stone ruins, and is within an elaborately decorated frame. The image on the back cover is of a floral arrangement, also within an elaborate frame. Many of the original drawings within the book are labeled in ms. by their creator, and include landscape views, views of houses, and floral arrangements or individual plants. "L.A. Cunningham, 1854" is written in ms. on the inside of the front cover. Accompanying this drawing book is a ms. note from DK that is a partial listing of the drawings in this book. According to DK's note, some of the drawings are copied from various Bartholomew drawing books.

The book is bound in a printed, paper binding, and is composed of blank leaves, each with a guardsheet for original drawings. The title on the front cover is surrounded by two decorative frames. The pencil drawings themselves are two floral scenes, 1 landscape and 1 image of a house within a pastoral setting. None of the drawings are signed, but "R.T. Fish" is written in ms., in pencil, on the front cover.

One book of original drawings entitled Drawing Book, created by Frederick Harris of Springfield, Massachusetts. The drawing book was "Sold by M.J. Whipple & Co., Importers of Artists' Materials" in Boston, ca. 1850. The book is 10 unnumbered leaves in length, and contains 15 original pencil drawings. The front cover is an engraving; an elaborate, decorative frame surrounds the title and three vignettes. The original pencil drawings are primarily of houses and buildings; there is also an image of a modern-looking couch. None of the drawings are signed. "F.H." is written in ms., in ink, on the insides of the covers. "Frederick Harris. Springfield, Mass." is written in ms., in ink, on the front cover.

It is bound in an illustrated orange paper binding; the title is within a twig and leaf decorative border that contains 4 small vignettes within each of the four corners. The title is centered. The back cover is similarly illustrated, with an eagle in the center of the frame. The book is 12 unnumbered leaves in length, and contains original and (presumably) copied pencil drawings, one of which is signed "F.M." The drawings include images of animals, people, fruit and flowers, and buildings. Tissue paper guard sheets are bound in between each of the leaves.
