One set of cards entitled Harbutt's Plasticine Play Lessons in Modelling published by the Embossing Company, Albany, New York, copyright 1908. The set consists of 13 cards (unnumbered), the first of which is textual. The remainder of the cards are color images of objects (primarily birds and animals) made with Harbutt's Plasticine. Each of the color image cards are single-sided, and intended to be used as models. Accompanying this set of cards is a brown paper envelope with a color label: "Play Lessons in Modeling Harbutt's Plasticine". The envelope is a color reproduction of a framed "title page" made from plasticine.

This 6-page (unnumbered) leaflet is made from a single sheet, folded into thirds. It is illustrated with sample designs from the book, and promotional text. A listing of the contents of the book is given on the last page. The dimensions given are for the folded leaflet.

Kindergarten Work in the Home

One pamphlet entitled Kindergarten Work in the Home, by Edith Marion Cleaver, published by Pepsin Syrup Co., Monticello, Illinois, ca. 1920. This pamphlet is 16 numbered pages in length, and is a manufacturer's advertisement for Dr. Caldwell's Syrup Pepsin. The front cover is illustrated with a color image of two seated girls, each engaged in artistic play. The back cover is a color image of a number of crafts that can be made as outlined in the booklet. Throughout the book, arts and crafts activities are interspersed with advertisements and recommended uses for the laxative syrup. All illustrations within the book are in black and white. Some of the activities included are: How to Make Doll Houses, Cutting and Pasting, Doll Furniture, and Holiday Articles. The inside front and back covers contain two images of Dr. Caldwell and suggestions for holiday crafts, respectively. "Freda Pratt" is written in ms. at the top of the front cover. "25 [cents symbol]" is written in ms. in the upper right-hand corner of the front cover.

How to make Crepe Paper Flowers

One booklet entitled How to make Crepe Paper Flowers, published by Dennison Manufacturing Co., Framingham, Massachusetts, 1922. 32 pages in length, this instructional pamphlet provides both general and specific instructions for making numerous kinds of flowers from crepe paper. Each page highlights one kind of flower, and includes textual and visual (black and white) instructions. Laid in are several folded paper pattern sheets for use with the instructional pamphlet. The front and back covers are illustrated and in color; the front cover features a seated woman who is cutting a length of green crepe paper; the back cover features an orange vase of pink (presumably crepe paper) roses. Also on the front cover is the price of the pamphlet: "Price 10 [cents symbol]". The inside of the front cover is a manufacturer's advertisement for "Instrutions Books of 'Dennison Craft'", which lists and briefly describes the six titles in the series. The inside of the back cover advertises three books of holiday and party decorations issued by Dennison Manufacturing Co. "Mabel Spofford" is written in ms. at the top of the front cover.

Home Painting Book

One painting book entitled Home Painting Book, published by McLoughlin Bros., Springfield, Massachusetts, ca. 1930. The book is comprised of a series of double illustrations; for each set, one image is printed in color, the other is printed in outline form. The outline image was meant to be painted. On the front cover is a color illustration of two children picking flowers. A collage of colored chalk against a black background borders the principal illustration. "McLoughlin Bros. Inc., Springfield, Mass." is printed in the lower left-hand corner of the front cover; "2044, made in USA" is printed in the right-hand corner. The back cover is blank. The endpapers are illustrated with geometric designs. Directions for using the book and mixing paint colors are on the recto of the first page. The illustrations are printed on one side of each leaf. Some of the images within the book include scenes of playing children, animals, flowers and food. Few of the images have been filled in.

One painting book entitled Home Painting Gallery, by F.I. Wetherbee, published by M.A. Donohue & Co., Chicago, copyright 1908. This painting book is comprised of chromolithograph images, black and white images for coloring, and blank pages for drawing. Descriptive and instructional text accompanies each image. The front cover is a chromolithograph collage of images which include a lace-covered table, a horse, a seated woman, and a boy writing in a chair. The back cover is blank. The images and exercises within this book range from very simple (drawing straight lines) to more complex coloring and shading. Many of the lithograph images have been colored in. "21-" (price) is written in ms., in pencil, in the upper right-hand corner of the first page. "Annie McInley" is written in ms., in pencil, opposite the title page.
