This item is a single sheet folded once to create a 4-page leaflet. Illustrated with examples from the Picture Study Program, this advertisement promotes The University Prints' method of teaching art development to children. The interior two pages of this leaflet organize the series of grouped images by grade level. For example: "List II - Grade I. Animals about the Home; Grade II. Children of Other Lands; Grade III. Angels; Grade IV. Occupations; Grade V. The Seasons; Grade VI. Interiors and Furnishings; Grade VII. Interesting Costumes; Grade VIII. Mural Decorations of the Congressional Library." Titles of ten different art works are listed within each category.

    One price list/advertisement entitled Picture Studies for School Use, published ca. 1935-1940 by F.A. Owen Publishing Company, Dansville, New York. At the top of the front cover of this publisher's advertisement is "Instructor Picture Study Series." This advertisement and price list is a single sheet, folded into 6 pages. It is illustrated with black and white sample images, and is printed in black and orange. It states that reproductions are available both in miniature and in a larger format (9 3/4 in. x 12 3/4 in.), provides a list of subjects available, and categorizes some of the images into appropriate grade levels.

    One pamphlet, ca. 1920, entitled Industrial Art: For All of the Children of All the People, by Elizabeth V. Colburn -- a reprint of "Monograph from The National School Digest", Minneapolis, Minnesota. This 8-page pamphlet has the appearance of a newsletter, and is illustrated with black and white reproductions of artwork. The text is a discussion of the use of color theory within the public schools, and is divided into grade-level sections: "Grade 1. The Primary Colors"; Grades 2-3. The Binary Colors"; "Grade 4. Tints"; "Grade 5. Shades"; "Grades 6, 7 and 8. Complimentary and Analogous Harmonies." The last page lists materials needed for each class and advertises for Industrial Art Monographs, which appears to be a monthly feature within The National School Digest.

This 6-page flyer is a single sheet that is folded into thirds. Four of the pages list the titles advertised, one is the "cover", and one page is an order form. Accompanying this advertising flyer is a business reply postcard, an order form for a monograph entitled Art Education-1948.

    One pamphlet entitled Instruction in Drawing in Primary and Intermediate Schools in Europe and America. A Critical Review of the Prang Course in Form-Study and Drawing, by Arnold Dodel, with an introduction by Louis Prang, published by The Prang Educational Company, Boston, ca. 1890. This pamphlet is 36 numbered pages in length, and is not illustrated. The 9-page introduction is signed by Louis Prang, and is dated March 1, 1890. "University Press: John Wilson and Son, Cambridge" is printed on the verso of the title page.

    Three price lists: one (and its duplicate) for art reproductions by the George P. Brown & Co., Beverly, Massachusetts, ca. 1924. They are entitled Brown's Famous Pictures for February, March and April and Brown's Famous Bible Pictures. The former was issued as a double-sided single sheet; the latter as a 6-page price list. All three items were laid in a Brown & Co. Catalog, HEH RB #603406. The two single-sheet price lists are illustrated with a single row of images across each side of the leaf. Below the title and images reproduction cards are listed for sale and grouped by categories, for example: Washington Pictures, Dickens Pictures, Lincoln Picture; Thanksgiving and Christmas Pictures. Brown's Famous Bible Pictures is illustrated with a single image on the first page. This publisher's price list also groups images by category: 'The Life of Christ'; 'Old Testament Pictures'; 'Christmas Pictures'; 'Easter Pictures'; 'Madonnas'; 'Miniature Bible Pictures'. An ink stamp indicated a price change. "May 1924" is written in ms., in pencil, on the first page of this list.
