    Image contains four vignettes. The upper vignette depicts travelers passing on a trail. There is a miner on horseback, a miner on foot, and characteristic way-side types: Indians, Negroes, Chileno, Mexican, Kanaka, Chinese, an expressman, and a group with a covered wagon. The bottom vignette depicts the Chinese battle of Five Cent Gulch in Weaverville on July 15th, 1854. The two smaller vignettes depict Indians with grasshoppers and Indians grinding acorns.
