Date for the print determined by the fact that the vessel is flying the British Merchant flag at the taffrail, indicating British registry. The China was a British registered vessel from 1889 to 1897. She did operate for Pacific Mail during this period, and the company's flag can be seen on the mainmast. Large shield volcano in the background (Japan?). Focus of item: China (1889-1925). Title supplied by cataloger.
