    The plans for the decks show First Class passenger accommodations, along with public spaces, such as the dining saloon, social hall and smoking room. Dimensions of the vessel are below the title. "(9-30-13—5M)"--printed upper left corner, small type. "S.T. 90"--printed above the title, small type. Unknown as to when copy was made. Focus of item: China (1889-1925).

    "S.S. China"--title at the top of the drawing. "Scale 1/16" = 1 Ft"--scale given. Drawing shows a starboard cutaway profile, followed by plans for the bridge, promenade, upper, main, lower, and hold decks of the steamship China; the deck plans show passenger accommodations, including the bunks in steerage, along with the dining saloon, social hall, card room and other amenities. The lower right-hand corner of the original has been cut off. Unknown as to when the copy was made. "China (II)"--on verso, in ms., in pencil. Focus of item: China (1889-1925).

Vessel is flying American flag from the stern, a Pacific Mail house-flag from the middle mast, a pennant with the vessels name from the aft mast; from the first mast is a flag flying what appears to be a red dragon on a yellow field. Print includes vessel statistics and the name of the builder, Henry Steers. Copyright information below the image in the center" "Entered ... 1868 ... by Louis R. Menger ...". Focus of item: Japan.

    A later version of the print made for Atlantic Mail Steamship Company (qv. priKMEpri 0083), with a number of changes: 1) added cabins along top deck, drawn in behind original figures; "Costa Rica" added to paddle-box; "AMSSCO" changed to "PMSSCO" on paddle-box; house flag replace; American navy jack, then used with merchant vessel, added to bow of the vessel. Focus of item: Costa Rica.
