Patterson has a wide goatee that reaches the bottom of his collar, is resting his right forearm on a cloth-draped side-table, and it holding his hat in his lap in his left hand. Fisher is resting his right forearm on a cloth-draped side table and his left hand on his left thigh. He has a neatly trimmed mustache and a wide goatee that reaches the bottom of his collar. "Geo. Stotler's Old Portrait Gallery, Johnstown, Pa." is stamped in black on the verso.

Shorb has a full head of gray hair and a wide salt-and-pepper mustache, while the man on the left has a very high forehead and a full salt-and-pepper beard and mustache.
