Description
A full-length studio portrait of Union Second Lieutenant (later First Lieutenant) McKendree (also spelled M'Kendree and M. Kendree) Shaw of the 22nd Colored Infantry Regiment, turned slightly to the left. Shaw has a dark mustache and goatee, and is resting his right hand on the back of a richly upholstered wooden chair.
