A full-length studio portrait of an unidentified young girl resting her right forearm on the back of a simple wooden chair. The girl looks like she is about 8 to 12 years old, and is wearing a plaid patterned dress that reaches just past her knees. She is wearing dark boots that lace up about two-thirds of the way to her knees, a pearl-like necklace, and a band that holds her parted hair back.

She is sitting on a cloth-draped table with her feet resing on the woven seat of a chair, and her right hand resting on the back of the chair. Marion is a young girl, probably in the range of 3 to 6 years old, and is wearing a light colored, knee-length dress with small cap sleeves and an embroidered belt. She is wearing black leather shoes with a strap across the a beaded necklace, and is holding a wide-brimmed hat in her left hand. "Photographs, stereoscopes, albums, frames &c., Opposite the Clarke House. Winsted, Conn. T.M.V. Doughty. More like this can be had if desired." is stamped in black on the verso.

A three-quarters length studio portrait of Mexican General Ignacio Mejia with his head turned slightly to the right. Mejia is wearing a formal military uniform, with heavy embroidery on the front of his coat and on his cuffs and collars. He has a white sash across his chest, and is holding a heavily decorated hat in the crook of his right arm. Mejia is clean-shaven, and resting his left hand on his left hip. He has medals attached to his breast, one hanging around his neck, and another attached to the sash near his waist.
