    Kashnor notes, "Shows California [as an island] and locates New Albion and Port Sr. Franco. Draco, also shows a good map of New Holland and part of the Coast of New Zealand." Shirley dates as 1666, states original atlas reference. Map can be seen in situ in RB 32671. Elaborately engraved map. Two cartouches, one Latin, one Dutch. Two polar submaps.     Kashnor notes, "The Western Hemisphere shows the North-West Coast of America as far as the supposed Strait of Anain, with California as an island, also New Zealand, and some Pacific Island groups. The Western hemisphere shows the greater part of New Holland; with the line of the south coast of Van Diemen's Land." Kashnor says, "ca. 1680", Shirley states 1658. Two polar submaps.     Kashnor notes, "Shows California as an island, and the imaginary Strait of Anian. This is one of the decorative type, richly colored." Shirley notes this map originates with that of Arnold Colom, c.1655, which supplied the surround scenes. This map was modified by de Wit and used by Doncker in his Zee Atlas (does NOT appear in the Doncker atlas owned by the Huntington, RB 70778). Kashnor dates as 1665, Shirley as 1676.     Kashnor notes, " Shows California as an island with the 'Strait of Anian,' also a small portion of New Zealand. Locates Nouv. Albion and Po. S. Franco. Draco." Kashnor dates as 1666, but Shirley identifies this as the second state of this map and gives appeared in information, dating to 1680. Dedication to Charles II.     Kashnor notes, "Remarkable from its showing California as a peninsula, contrary to the practice of all other cartographers until about 1710. It identifies the 'Straits of Anian' with the Behring Strait." Kashnor dates as [1679]. Shirley establishes as 1663, Amsterdam, from second bible map, first state. Two sub maps, One of Ptolemaic universe (central earth) the other of Copernican universe with central sun. Art work depicts the four continents. Prime meridian: Ferro. Relief: pictorial.
