Manuscript map showing the northern part of Rhode Island from Fogland Ferry to Bristol Point Ferry. The Battle of Rhode Island took place on August 29, 1778. This maps depicts the withdrawal of American troops northward on the island. Shows the roads from Newport leading north and shows the locations of the Hessian, Anspach, and British forces on Quaker Hill and the Continental Army positions on Wind-Mill Hill. The Continental Army held Wind-Mill Hill for 2 days, before evacuating the island completely on September 1, 1778. Colored.

District south of Lake Erie and north of the Ohio River is now named "Western Territory." Kentucky & part of Tennessee inserted correctly. "Indiana" shown in current West Virginia probably from Hutchin's "New Map of Western Parts of Virginia" of 1778. "Canada" corrected to above current border. Tennessee admitted 1796 and map appeared in "Universal Atlas" with maps from 1800, hence dating by Stevens. Submap: A sketch of the Remaining part of the Ohio R., &c. MS note: 18230. Manuscript map by Charles Rivez, showing the boundaries between the provinces of New York and New Jersey. The Hudson and Mohawk rivers are well defined, and the forts, towns and settlements along them are depicted. Lake George and the territory to the north of Ticonderoga are shown, and the settlements, towns and roads of New Jersey are shown through the northern part of Burlington county.

According to Stevens in his monograph on Lewis Evans, this is the eighteenth issue, but in this the words Province of Quebec still extend from below the Wabash, whereas in the issues noted by him the words "Province of" have been deleted."
