Pre-game activities, flag raising, Rose Bowl Game, Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena. January 1, 1923
- Description
- A panoramic view of the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, with pre-game activities (possibly with a band, or military group?) going on on the field. The horseshoe shaped stadium is mostly empty, with a crowd of people on the lower benches on the near side, and a block of people in white on the far side. There are three rows of people in light uniforms standing at about the middle of the field, with a row of soldiers on the right, and a group of people dressed in white at the far left end of the field. A line of automobiles is on the far right side of the stadium, passing a podium hung with bunting in the center of the field. The American flag is starting to be raised on the tall flagpole on the far right, and everyone in the stands and on the field is standing and facing it. Very faint writing in white in the upper right corner reads "228".
