Eileen Senner collection on Robert Mezey

Description: Correspondence, photographs, writings, publications, and ephemera related to the poet Robert Mezey, collected by his former romantic partner Eileen Senner. Correspondence consists primarily of postcards and letters from Mezey to Senner, some including poetry. Writings include copies of publications in which Mezey's poetry appeared, broadsides, photocopies, and a small amount of handwritten notes related to his E.A. Robinson and Thomas Hardy projects. The collection also includes biographical articles and clippings, ephemera related to poetry readings and other events, and several photographs of Mezey.

Kenneth Funsten research collection

Manuscripts

A collection of letters, manuscripts, and printed material assembled by Kenneth Funsten related to the California poet Bert Meyers. Funsten wanted to publish a tribute to Meyers so in May and June 1979 sent letters to various poets, friends, colleagues, and students of Meyers requesting their help. The collection contains copies of Funsten's letters, letters and memoirs in response, and printed material related to Meyers collected by Funsten. Significant persons in the collection include: Sam Bluefarb, Alvaro Cardona-Hine, Dennis Cooper, French R. Fogle, Leland Hickman, George Hitchcock, Denis Levertov, Oscar Mandel, Odette Meyers, Robert Mezey, John B. Nomland, Maximillian E. Novak, Robert Peters, William Pillin, Benjamin Saltman, Ann Stanford, and the West Coast Poetry Review.

Materials related to Dana Gioia's work as a poet, essayist, and editor as well as his roles as Chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and Poet Laureate of California. The Writings series is divided into Poetry, Other Writings, and Publications, and includes drafts, galleys, published versions, and reprints of Gioia's poems, essays, and other writings, as well as notes, correspondence, reviews, and other related documents. The Professional series includes materials related to Gioia's work with the NEA, including documentation of his NEA nomination and confirmation; his congressional testimony; reports; publicity; and working documents and correspondence related to NEA programs such as The Big Read, Poetry Out Loud, NEA Jazz Masters, and others. There is also correspondence, press coverage, a scrapbook, and other documentation of Gioia's tenure as California Poet Laureate; and materials related to his 2007 Stanford University commencement address, including drafts of the speech, responses, and reprints. The Correspondence series is comprised primarily of Gioia's letter and email correspondence with other poets, publishers, and scholars, and also includes some biographical and other material related to each correspondent. The Broadsides and posters series includes poetry broadsides authored by Dana Gioia and others, and a few posters related to Gioia's poetry.
