Approx. 25 items - letters, article copies, tear sheets and other material related to controversial Conrad cartoons on Israel and Middle East turmoil. One letter, 12/12/1988, to The Spotlight, in Washington DC, warned that publication to "cease distribution of...any Times' copyrighted materials..." - they had run a Conrad cartoon four days before without permission.

Those outraged included a group of Hollywood High School students (who urged Conrad's firing), LAPD Chief Daryl Gates, and more. Memos and notes in-house on controversies swirling around Conrad. Also in the folder:a letter from the Society of Professional Journalists notifying Conrad that he had won the Sigma Delta Chi award for 1981 ; specimens of the form letter about freedom to express opinions, etc, more personalized responses to some letters ; one original copy of Iowa Alumni Review, 12/1963, with article written by Conrad - "The Ticklish Art," pp. 5-6, two of Conrad's "Favorite Cartoons," pp. 12 and a brief profile (with photo of Conrad) pp. 14-15 ; article copied from University (mag.)
