Those outraged included a group of Hollywood High School students (who urged Conrad's firing), LAPD Chief Daryl Gates, and more. Memos and notes in-house on controversies swirling around Conrad. Also in the folder:a letter from the Society of Professional Journalists notifying Conrad that he had won the Sigma Delta Chi award for 1981 ; specimens of the form letter about freedom to express opinions, etc, more personalized responses to some letters ; one original copy of Iowa Alumni Review, 12/1963, with article written by Conrad - "The Ticklish Art," pp. 5-6, two of Conrad's "Favorite Cartoons," pp. 12 and a brief profile (with photo of Conrad) pp. 14-15 ; article copied from University (mag.) 4 items. Includes communiques between Marketing Research and Carolyn Miller of Arcadia (she had strong anti-Conrad sentiments to express), then between Williams and Miller. Also a copy of a letter from Williams to Mrs. B.J. Carroll of Newport Beach. Carroll had also obviously taken strong exception to one or more Conrad cartoons, and Williams was defending him as "a social critic."
