"Durrie" Monsma; 3-pp. letter (7/8/1957) to LAT "Editor" from "Ernest Rhoads, Ex-Battalion Chief," L.A. Fire Dept., who not only fought the fire caused by the bombing, but spoke in person to "Tom [J.B.] McNamara" decades later in prison, and asked him, "Would you do it again?" The letter provides the answer and more details; several accounts of the bombing written in later years; lists of news clippings and editorials related to the bombing and trial; 12+ pp. headed "James B. and John J. McNamara - Papers, 1905-1961"; 30-pp. "Special Report," by "H.G. Otis," dated 10/31/1910 (30 days after bombing), "Our Sad Misfortune: the dynamiting and destruction of the Times Building."

5 items: 15-pp. transcript of "Tape 1...Initial taping with Mr. Arnold Haskell," 12/11/1972. Haskell was private secretary to Moses Sherman in the 1910s, often "loaned" to HGO as aide and driver. Haskell tells colorful stories about his experiences with Gen. Otis and offers his impressions of both Gen. Otis and Harry Chandler and some recollections of their business enterprises, including Tejon Ranch ; 16-pp. transcript of "Tape 2," 12/11/1972, [Arnold Haskell] recounts his memories of working for HC. Subjects include: Hearst's San Simeon Ranch ; Harry Chandler purchases San Fernando Valley land around 1911 ; a year or two later bought large holdings in Baja ; H.E. Downing ; Donald Douglas and Douglas Aircraft Co. ; Haskell claims Harry Chandler suggested the name "Hollywood" for housing development after seeing a boy and a burro loaded with bundles of holly coming out of one of the canyons ; Haskell refutes the enduring "legend" that HC was a cold man, saying "he was a very likeable man" ; 1 yellow sheet with Haskell recollections on Walter Bowker, "manager of our Mexican ranch properties..." ; 6-pp. transcript of "Telephone conversation of 2/1/1973, James Bassett / Arnold Haskell - subjects include: William Randolph Hearst circa 1935 (mention of Marian Davies) ; Yosemite and Curry Company ; Haskell says HC and Hearst were business rivals but held no personal animosity.
