- The correspondence, newsletters and Parliamentary Proceedings reports, 1676, Nov.-1680, Dec. are arranged chronologically. This material includes letters written to Sir Leoline Jenkins and his secretary, Dr. Owen Wynne, as well as newsletters (in English and French) written from various continental countries; the newsletters are primarily concerned with the Scanian War, the Elector of Brandenburg, the Ottoman Turks and the Dutch War. Another significant group of material includes extracts from the Journals of both Houses of Parliament dealing primarily with the Popish Plot, Catholics, Titus Oates and the Exclusion Crisis. This material also includes addresses, confessions, Articles of Impeachment, speeches and requests to attend the King (Boxes 1-5). The collection also includes the original roan-backed Middle Hill boards, with the label MS. 12256, from the collection of Thomas Phillipps (Box 6).
