    This volume contains 99 pages of text handwritten in pencil, describing a transcontinental trip by rail from Massachusetts to California and back in the spring of 1887. Idethia Nylyes traveled with her parents and various other individuals as part of a Raymond-Whitcomb package excursion, with stopovers in settings such as Pasadena, California, Yosemite National Park, and Yellowstone National Park. Descriptions of Yellowstone National Park occupy approximately one-quarter of the text. There is some writing throughout the book and at the end (about half of the volume is blank).
