Law notes of John Burrows taken while at Middle Temple

This volume contains law notes kept by Burrows while he was studying at Middle Temple. It consists mainly case reports and there is an index in the back of the volume of the cases "in their order of time." Notes in other hands, but mainly by Burrows. The volume is undated.

This volume contains lectures, mainly in Burrow's hand and given by Burrows to his pupils, however there are also some works by a few of his pupils. There is an index at the end of the volume which lists 26 different pieces. Some of the topics include: leprosy, physiognomy, ancient antiquities, etc. Some pages blank, mainly written on the rectos, some pages excised.

Diary and letterbook

This journal or diary, kept at irregular intervals over nearly forty years (fullest for the 1720s), gradually morphs into a letterbook recording copies of Thomlinson's correspondence. Early entries discuss with some frankness his family and prospects, his own and his family's business and legal mattters, daily life and gossip, books and rading (including The Tatler), politics and current events, sermons, occasional medicinal rcipes and cures, and accounts of his corresepondence.

A collection of autograph sermons preached by William Power ca. 1635-1638, closely written with additions and corrections in his same hand, occasionally with notes on the date or place of praching. All apparently npublished.

James Welch Brier sermons

This small group of material consists of handwritten sermons by Brier and notes for sermons. Some of the sermon titles are: "Churchism," "The Dispensation of the Spirit," "Divine Union," and "The Existance [sic] of God." Also included are sermons and notes regarding baptism, and church history. There is also one notebook of Brier's with religious notes. The majority of the collection is undated (the notebook is dated 1887). There is also one letter written by Reverend Brier to Reverend J. E. Dwinelle, of Sacramento; it is about Charles Eliot Norton, evolution and religion (letter is also undated). It is assume that all of this material was written after Brier came to California in 1850.

Florida botanical travel log

The notebook includes text and pages of leaf imprints by an unknown author who traveled around Florida in 1901 and 1902. Many of the plants are identified in pencil along the margin, most with date and some with locations. Some leaves with both sides shown. Occasional original specimens present, one specimen has been mounted adjacent to the leaf print. "Book Orlando and Winter Park Winter 1901-1902" and "Florida 1901-02" are written on cover page.
