    Fall writes to Blasdel, the governor of Nevada, that his town of Unionville "is under control of a mob." He reports a group of armed miners has banded together to force out the town's population of "Chinamen," who are in fear for their lives. Fall reports his mills have ceased operation due to this incident, and that the local law enforcement has been ineffective in restoring order..     This is a single-page, two-sided manuscript that is leaf 24 from the First Book of Baptisms, which documented baptisms performed at the Mission of San Gabriel (Calif.) during the 18th century. It contains several entries, dated from March to May, 1776, and also contains signatures of Fathers Miguel Sanchez, Antonio Cruzado, and Francisco Garcés. In Spanish.

    Robert Bristow plantation ledger, 1660-1707 (bulk 1677-1707)

    Manuscripts

    An account book and ledger from British merchant Robert Bristow's plantation, house, and stores in Lancaster and Gloucester Counties in Virginia. The ledger was used by Bristow to document inventories of home goods, Bristow's personal library, debts, copies of land patents and other legal documents, and lists of indentured and enslaved laborers; also included in the ledger are lists of his shares in Royal African Company ships. The volume is written in several hands, including Bristow's. The binding is not original but was rebound in full panelled calf from the bindery of restoration bookbinder Bernard Middleton; the volume is signed with Middleton's cypher and has his book label and a brief typed description pasted on the inside front cover.

    The Manuscripts series contains William A. Baker's diaries from 1864-1866, as well as the diaries his granddaughter, Irma Garner, kept during her college years (1929-1931). It also holds ledger/account books, sermon notes, reports for Harold P. Richards from the U.S. Department of Interior division of Grazing in Salt Lake City, Utah, and other financial documents. The Correspondence series is primarily related to various members of the Baker family with a bulk of the letters associated with Irma Garner. Furthermore, over forty letters are from family friend, Chris Connor, to Irma Garner. The Photograph series is composed entirely of photographs, photograph albums, and a video. They are arranged in alphabetical order and are mostly grouped together by family (i.e. Baker family, Garner family, etc.), or other common theme. There is one folder dedicated to Irma Garner, the Baker cabin/ranch, Fannie Fain Baker, and Denver Silar Garner. Box 5 contains a video interview of Irma Garner. The Ephemera series includes newspaper clippings, a birth certificate, a marriage certificate programs, receipts, books, empty envelopes, a wallet, and redwood from Big Pine, California. The oversized folder is connected to this box as it has four newspapers that have articles that were of interest to the Baker family.
