Collection of letters from various artists, mostly addressed to Edwin Wilkins Field, with some addressed to his son Walter Field who was also an artist. A few of the letters concern Field's efforts to pass some kind of measure ensuring artistic copyright. Most of the letters are from members of either the Royal Academy or the Old Water-Colour Society. Among the correspondents are: 2 letters from George Cruikshank. Ben Field papers
Manuscripts
The papers include a diary Field wrote while on a voyage from San Pedro, California, to England in 1886, as well as correspondence, from the 1930s and 1940s, both by and to Ben Field. In the diary of his voyage around Cape Horn, Field details his experience on the ship Micronesia including the longitude and latitude of the ship, weather conditions, and other ships sighted. The correspondence is chiefly about poetry and writers in California. Several poets and authors are represented in the correspondence including Cyril Clemens, Jay Roderic De Spain, Frank Forrest Latta, Elinor Lennen, Morse Irl, and Lucia Trent; there is one letter by singer and actress Connie Boswell. Also mentioned in the letters are the League of Western Writers, Rob Wagner, the founder of the magazine Script, and poetry contests. The collection also contains two poems by Field

Stephen J. (Stephen Johnson) Field receipts to Charles Covilland
Manuscripts
These two manuscripts are receipts written by Stephen J. Field acknowledging payment received from Charles Covilland. The first receipt (HM 43202) is dated 1856, May 23, and is payment for Field's legal expertise related to property owned by Covilland. The second (HM 43203, dated 1857, April 25) is a bill to Covilland for Field's legal services and clerking fees.

Eugene Cunningham Papers
Manuscripts
The collection contains the papers of Western fiction writer Eugene Cunningham (1896-1957) and includes manuscripts of the works of Cunningham and others, correspondence with friends and other writers of Western lore, five scrapbooks, and 250 photographs. There are twelve bound typescript manuscripts of Cunningham's work, with handwritten corrections. Within the correspondence, there are 21 letters from Western writer Eugene Manlove Rhodes and 104 letters from Rhodes's wife, May Louise (Davison) Purple Rhodes, as well as 12 letters from General Thomas Cruse, who was with the United States Army in Arizona during the Indian campaigns and wrote Apache Days and After. The photographs are chiefly of Western figures (many reproduced from the collection of Noah H. Rose of San Antonio, Texas).

The collection also contains 33 letters from Eugene Field to his wife, Julia Sutherland Comstock Field (b. 1857). These letters date from both before and after their marriage in 1873, and many are from Eugene Field's trip to Europe in 1873. The collection also contains letters written to Eugene Field, including one letter from Edward David Cowen, one from Hildegarde Hawthorne, and two letters from Washington Irving Way. There is also one letter in the collection from Eugene Field to Julian Hawthorne.
