    Visual Materials

    A group portrait of lumber camp workers of Japanese heritage, and their families, in front of a camp building with railroad tracks at the doorstep. The gelatin silver photograph, 11 x 14 inches, depicts 31 men, three women, several young children and babies, and a dog. A few men are holding babies and one man is posed holding a watering can above a flowering planter box. Handwriting at the bottom of the print reads: "This is All Japanese Boys at Camp" and the photographer's credit is in the negative: # 65 Kinsey Photo. These loggers worked for the Manley-Moore Lumber Company, which operated approximately 1910 to 1934 on a tract of old growth timber in Pierce County, Washington.     Image of an obelisk monument draped in an American flag, the name Lincoln surrounded by laurel wreath just below the flag. Printed below the wreath is: Born Feby. 12 1809. / Ours the Cross / His the Crown / Assassinated April 14 1865. One the left of the obelisk is a man in civilian dress, on the right a soldier, hands in prayer while leaning on a musket. At the base of the monument, Columbia stands in a red and blue dress with her hand over her face while weeping, broken shackles hanging on either side.

    Image of a memorial print for United States president George Washington; Washington ascends into heaven assisted by Father Time and an angel (or "Immortality") from a crypt; three women at left (Faith, Hope, and Charity) can be seen grieving, one holds her hand out, another with two children in her arms, and a third is slumped forward on her arms weeping; beneath Washington is a bald eagle, Union shield on which is written "E pluribus unum" and the goddess Columbia (or Liberty) bowing her head in sorrow, staff with Phrygian cap in hand; Washington's discarded armor and sword lie on the ground near a Native American Indian with his hatchet and arrows sitting with head resting on his knees; on the tomb is written the words "Sacred is the Memory of Washington OB 11 Dec. - D 1799. Et. 68."

The game is illustrated with 32 vignettes of views, caricatures, and portraits relating to American history. The illustrations are numbered and correspond to starred spaces on the ribbon. The title is decorative in red, white, and blue stripes, and towards the left of the title is a picture of an American flag with 34 stars and 7 stripes. Players roll dice to move across the board and then follow the instructions listed on the illustrations to move forward. The top of the print includes a portrait of George Washington, and the bottom of the print includes two engravings. The engraving on lower right is labeled, “96. Give the Player two throws” and includes an illustration of a man standing near a cabin and farming supplies. The engraving towards the lower right of the print is labeled. “119. Home of the Washington Family: the Player has lost, and muse cease to play,” along with a view of Washington’s home. Print is bordered on all sides with decorative motifs of leaves and flowers.
