The ‘Little Artist’s' Masterpiece Painting Set: With Quality Paints and Masterpiece Pictures

One boxed painting set entitled The ‘Little Artist’s' Masterpiece Painting Set: with Quality Paints and Masterpiece Pictures, manufactured by Whitman Publishing Co., ca. 1932. This set is comprised of 8 round cakes of watercolor paint within wooden tubs, two oblong metal dishes, 2 sheets containing 16 color images entitled Famous Paintings to Paint and Color, 4 double-sided sheets, each containing 4 images for painting, and a book of 11 color images entitled Color Reproductions of Ten Famous Paintings: Including Historical Sketches of the Artists and the Pictures, Suitable for Framing. "1932" is written in ms., in pencil, on the verso of the last leaf of this book of reproductions. The images as models are the same as those in the book of reproductions. Some of the images included are: "The Blue Boy" by Gainsborough; "The Helping Hand" by Renouf; "The Sistine Madonna" by Raphael, and "Portrait of George Gisz" by Holbein. One of the images has been partially painted.

One drawing book entitled Freehand Drawing of Ornament. A Collection of Drawing Copies Reproduced from Original Photographs, Selected and Arranged, by Robert Bunting, published by C. Arthur Pearson Limited, London, ca. 1890. Title copy is framed by a decorative border. "Pearson's School Series" is printed above the title, and "Price Half-a-Crown" is printed below the publisher's statement. This book contains 22 numbered, photographed images of floral and decorative ornaments (originals in stone), on perforated paper, so that each leaf may be torn out if desired. The first 2 unnumbered pages are principally textual, giving "Suggestions for freehand drawing from the cast of photographs." Each of the numbered images is protected by a guardsheet (none of the sheets have been removed). The inside of the front cover is blank. Printed on the inside back cover is: "Miller, Son and Compy., Limited, Printers, Finsbury Circus Buildings, London, E.C." The back cover is an advertisement for "Pearson's Attractive Drawing Books, by Robert Bunting." Laid in between ornaments 10 and 11 is a single sheet of "Standard Tracing Cloth", light gray and has the company logo printed in green on it (another is contained in envelope 6).

Krüsi's Drawing: Synthetic Series

One drawing book entitled Krüsi's Drawing: Synthetic Series, New series, No. 2, published by D. Appleton & Co., New York, copyright 1878. This book consists of 16 pages of geometric designs, which emphasize the practice of lines and shapes. Suggestions to Teachers are printed on the inside of the front cover, and specifics of line drawing are outlined on the inside of the back cover. On each page are the illustrations and space intended for copying. The front cover is decoratively bordered; the back cover is a publisher's advertisement for Model Copy-Books in six numbers (penmanship studies), offered by D. Appleton & Co. Laid inside the book are three sheets of paper, two of which are blank. The third contains several original illustrations. A blue ownership stamp of I.A. Dexter is on the front cover.
