"In submitting the following selection of our inks for your consideration, we have divided them into two classes, Grade A and Grade B. The first is printed on a 100 lb. stock and the second on a 50 lb. stock, both coated. During the printing of these inks, no attempt was made to make them look better than they really are. Upon removal from the cans at the press, the only changes made were in some cases a reduction in body in order to adapt the inks to the paper and press on which they were being printed. They were neither double rolled nor slip-sheeted. It is impossible to make any one ink that will work on every press and on any kind of paper. Therefore, we would particularly ask that when ordering inks from this book to attain a desired color that you state the type of press used, and enclose a sample of stock. The majority of these inks can be sued for Halftone work. In ordering inks for this purpose, kindly state with your order that it is to be used for the printing of a Halftone"--From introduction.
