Group of 18 pamphlets directed to children and young readers published by Mahlon Day and sold at his New Juvenille Book-store on 374 Pearl Street, New York. The pamphlets range in topic from religious, moral tales, natural history, ethnology, folk tales and nursery rhymes. Includes both prose and poetry. The majority of the publications have Mahlon Day's imprint and are dated 1834. Most of the pamphlets are illustrated throughout with woodcuts. The pamphlets are bound together in a single volume with striped fabric cloth covered boards. Stitching is loose. Many of the pamphlet pages are damaged with significant loss of text. Several of the titles have been cataloged separately and may be searched in the catalog.

This collection contains approximately 450 articles, offprints, pamphlets and other works, covering a span of 1812 to 1894, collected by the British explorer Sir Richard Francis Burton and forming part of his library. The items are contained in 432 envelopes and cover 17 different categories of material: General; Periodicals, Congress Reports; Anthropology, Archaeology, Folklore; Biography; Geography, Travel; Linguistics; Literature; Medicine, Psychology; Religion, Philosophy; Science, Pure, Natural, Applied; Sword; Africa; Americas; Asia; Europe; Pacific, Australasia. Some of the works include manuscript annotations by Burton as well as correspondence sent to him and insertions of articles and clippings. This is a subsection of the Sir Richard Francis Burton Library Printed Material Collection in the Rare Books Department. Abraham Lincoln collection
Manuscripts
This collection contains correspondence and documents of Abraham Lincoln dating from 1813 to 1865, especially relating to his presidency and the election of 1864, and to the Civil War, including appointments, military commissions, instructions and orders to generals, pardons, and passes. Several items pertain to slavery, including letters and notes, documents regarding gradual emancipation in Delaware, and signed copies of the 13th Amendment. There is a small amount of material for the Lincoln and Todd families. Also present are legal documents, 1838 to 1860, primarily relating to various cases handled by Lincoln during his law partnerships, especially with William H. Herndon. In addition, the collection includes items dating from 1865 to 1911 that concern Lincoln's assassination and the conspirators, his funeral, and his legacy.
